Andrew “Bunnie” Huang has been an integral part of the open hardware startups Chumby, Novena, and Chibitronics and knows the manufacturing system of Shenzhen, China, inside and out. MIT Technology Review business editor Elizabeth Woyke talks with him about forging productive partnerships with Chinese factories, the many ways that fake products are produced in Shenzhen, and whether it’s still cost-effective for companies to manufacture in China.
